Someone recently asked me if you could pin Amazon affiliate links on Pinterest.
They said they had seen information that made them believe that was the case.
I had not heard that you could currently do this so I asked them to link
to their source so I could check it out.
I wasn't prepared for their response....
They sent me a picture of the first page of Google search results when they asked it the same question.
Those results do make it look like you could pin
Amazon links UNLESS you actually dig into each result.
Those results are so misleading that if you followed them you could end up getting your Amazon Associates account closed permanently.
There are two reasons that the Google search results make it look like you can pin
those links on Pinterest:
- There are marketers out there who really want to sell you something. They know that if they imply you can put Amazon affiliate links on Pinterest they'll get lots of attention from beginner affiliate marketers. There are even recent videos on YouTube with instructions on how to do this yet if you read the comments you'll see plenty of people pointing out that the information in the videos is incorrect. Doesn't stop
the videos from being produced.
- There have been two times in the past when it was okay to put such links on Amazon and so the search results in Google will show articles explaining how to do this but if you pay close attention you will see that the dates of those articles are more than 2 years old.
Rather than take anyone's word for whether or not you can put Amazon affiliate links on Pinterest I
suggest you contact the Amazon Associates Help Desk yourself and ask them directly.
You'll then have confirmation from them that you can save for your records should you run into issues in the future.
And should you ask that question and they say yes then also ask them if they're okay with you pinning their images to Pinterest with your affiliate
link.
Just because they may be okay with you pinning affiliate links at some point in the future doesn't mean they will allow you to do so with their images so you'll want to ask that second question at that time, too.
