Any time I want something done but I find I'm procrastinating I pull out my "5 minute trick".
I pick a habit I know I'm going to do multiple times a day and then every time I do that one habit I spend 5 minutes on the task I've been trying to avoid.
Let's say my bedroom closet has become a disaster and it needs to be cleaned and reorganized.
I know that I go into my bedroom multiple times throughout the day so I'll use that as my habit.
That means that every time I go into my bedroom to do whatever I must then spend 5 minutes cleaning my closet.
Mentally I don't feel like I'm spending time cleaning my closet at all because it's only 5 minutes and then I get to walk away.
In fact, I don't even break a sweat!
However, by the end of each day I find I've made great progress and, before I know it, I'm finished.
I use this 5 minute mind game for all
kinds of larger household projects but it also works for making a difference with my business.
There are all kinds of things I want to do and then find I put off like writing a large, very involved website post or updating all of the themes and plugins on my sites.
Have something you've been putting off?
Try this 5 minute trick
and see if you can't cross something big off of your to-do list this week, too.
