I've tackled so many outdoor projects the past few months that various body parts have periodically called in sick.
Went to answer an email one morning after a particularly brutal day of moving gravel and my right hand said "Nope, we're taking the day off" and promptly went back to
sleep.
But I had been working on a project to reconfigure my side yard for months and I'd finally finished.
I'd pulled weeds, removed bushes, made trips to the dump, fixed irrigation system leaks, gotten rid of pounds and pounds of concrete, painted the gate, and - lastly - shifted all the gravel around in that section in order to incorporate tons of a second kind of gravel we'd had
left over from another project.
I even scoured the rest of our yard for larger rocks to use as a border for the area I created for new bushes and plants.
I texted a before and after pic to my dad who responded with "You need to come visit more often". LOL!
I told him I loved doing this kind of work because it was so
relaxing.
As soon as I'd typed that word I knew it wasn't what I meant.
Relaxing? I rolled my eyes at myself. Stupid-head.
Every joint was screaming at me.
There was one day (in October, mind you!) that I got in the pool fully dressed and sat there like a
lump for a good 10 minutes because I was SO hot from working outside.
I had cuts, bruises, scrapes, and blisters everywhere.
Every ant and mosquito within 10 miles had come to bite my arms and legs.
I couldn't sleep at night until I'd covered every itchy limb in calamine lotion.
My dad texted back a single word:
SATISFYING
