More US States to Have Access to Amazon Associates Program

Sales Tax Issues Becoming a Thing of the Past...
For the past several years, many states in the US were at risk of being cut off from the Amazon Associates program because of attempts by various state governments to force Amazon to collect sales tax.

Some states - like California - bounced in and out of the program in short order causing much frustration on the part of affiliates.

Thanks to Amazon growth and cooperation with several states, fewer states than ever are at risk of losing their Amazon Associate program AND several states that have been cut out in the past are now allowed to join the program.

Amazon Associates changed the terms of their Operating Agreement TODAY and the following state residents are now allowed into the program:
  • Missouri
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
The only two US states currently excluded from the Amazon Associates program are Arkansas and Maine.

If Amazon collects sales tax in a state, that removes the reason that was causing them to pull their program from that state which means that the risk of the program going away again (at least with sales tax as the cause) is next to none.

The map in this article shows for which states Amazon is now collecting sales tax:  http://www.cnbc.com/2017/02/01/10-more-states-will-now-collect-sales-taxes-from-amazon.html

While this news doesn't impact everyone directly I think it does demonstrate Amazon's commitment to their affiliate program as they opened the doors to those three new states very quickly and that's good news for all of us!

Nice!
