Last Minute Halloween Affiliate Marketing

It's Not Too Late!
Halloween is second only to Christmas for Amazon affiliate marketers.  There's a huge buying spree on costumes and decorations.

No affiliate wants to miss out because it's a time of year when a very large number of sales happen in a relatively short period of time and we only get a couple of those times each year!

A list member asked me last week if I was putting out an ebook focused on Halloween and I felt like such a disappointment when I said I wasn't.

However, I've already written about what I'd do for Halloween - it's just that I didn't use Halloween as an example.  Chances are you already have exactly what you should do for October affiliate marketing.

If you haven't already built a site around Halloween it's not too late.  I'm going to lay out exactly what I'd do if I were you
.
You'll need:
  • Your own website - Use an existing one if Halloween posts fit with the site niche.  Otherwise, I'd suggest you build a self-hosted WordPress site with your own domain (pick some generic, non-keyword domain anme) since the content of the posts is going to be really, really short.  Many of my ebooks tells you how to set up a WordPress site step-by-step so no excuses!
  • Pinterest business profile - use an existing profile or Google "Pinterest business" and follow the steps to sign up.  Give the profile the same name as your website (or as close as you can get).
  • Images for your posts that you can pin to Pinterest - all you need is a free account at Canva and perhaps some free images from MorgueFile.com.  That's it.  No need to buy anything.
  • Pinterest followers - most of you already have my PinPlosion strategy for gaining followers quickly.  Use it!
NO keyword research.  It's this easy:
  1. Pick something you know is hot around Halloween (witch costumes, Star Wars party decorations, fuzzy costumes for infants, trick or treating candy bags
  2. Find 5 products on Amazon that work for the topic you want to write about
  3. Come up with an attention getting post title for your topic (5 Witch Costumes That Will Scare Your Parents, Warm and Fuzzy Infant Costumes so Cute You'll Say "Aw!" for Hours!,  Star Wars Halloween Decorations that Have Men Drooling)
  4. Go to Canva.com and create an image that is 400px tall and 350px wide
  5. Use the FREE elements for background color, shapes, lines, and text to make a colorful headline sort of graphic that includes your text from step #3.  There are plenty of great articles on the web about creating Pinterest-friendly graphics.  You'll find lots of great ideas for images and, if you're comfortable, you can also incorporate free images from Morguefile.com.
  6. Put the image you created in your post, write a short paragraph about your products and how you chose them.  Insert the Amazon affiliate HTML for the 5 products.
  7. Publish your post.
  8. Pin the post to Pinterest with the image you created (do not pin Amazon product images to Pinterest - you want the person from Pinterest to have to click your image and see your post).  Make sure to pin from other sources in between pinning your own posts.
  9. Build up followers quickly with the PinPlosion strategy

You can do this kind of post in 30 minutes once you get the hang of it which means you could do multiple posts in a day.

While I do have an ebook in the works, it's not holiday related and I didn't want to leave you hanging regarding Halloween.  I've just been so busy lately that I'm a week or two behind on all non-coaching email so if you've sent me something during that time I'm sorry I haven't responded.  Hang in there - I hope to get caught up this weekend!

So get cracking, Halloween affiliates, and may your candy basket of Amazon sales fill to overflowing!

Sincerely,

Erica Stone
