Contact Amazon Associates & Read the Operating Agreement!
Just a followup to my email yesterday about Pinterest and Amazon affiliate links....

Some of you have heard that you can put your Amazon affiliate links on Pinterest and some have heard that you cannot.

This is why it's very important that YOU personally contact the Amazon Associates Support Desk yourself and do your own digging.  Get clarification on any questions.  Ask them what steps you have to go through to put links on Pinterest safely.  I prefer to use live chat or email to contact them so I can keep screen shots of all communication.  However, you can certainly contact them by phone, too, and ask for a written confirmation of the discussion.  Don't be afraid to ask for a manager for clarification if you're uncomfortable with the answer you get.

Then, go through the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement,  Participation Requirements, and Linking Requirements as some changes were made in May of this year.  Make sure you are adhering to all terms.

In addition, I suggest you put the words "affiliate link" INSIDE the description of any item you pin to Pinterest with an affiliate link (whether it's an Amazon link or an affiliate link from another program).  It's just safer to disclose that information up front and if someone likes the item they're likely to click that link anyway regardless of the disclosure.  It will help build trust with your followers.

Remember that you don't HAVE to put Amazon affiliate links on Pinterest if you don't want to take the risk.  There are lots of other affiliate programs that you can use and I'll be covering those in my next ebook so there's still lots of opportunity to leverage the Pinterest platform as an affiliate.

Thanks!
