Do you ever worry about your income with affiliate marketing? I do! I think it's perfectly natural for these kinds of things to run through our heads:
- What if the technology changes faster than I can adapt?
- What if I'm being outrun by social media masters?
- What if I'm not tapping into new traffic
sources?
- What if I'm too "old-school"?
- What if I'm not making my sites engaging enough for my visitors to want to stay or come back?
I read a lot and I think I'm pretty technology savvy but there are apps and tools I read about today and it worries me. Maybe I'm not doing enough to keep up with all the latest technology for traffic to my sites, for engaging visitors, for getting people to sign up to my email lists, or for making my sites really "pop" in today's world?
Thank goodness there are tools out there that can help us deal with these very issues and one very cool one I've been testing recently is:
Fair warning - it's addictive! (Once you figure out what it does...)
I didn't totally understand what it could do just from the sales page (darn it, maybe that's another sign I'm slipping into "old-school"). It wasn't until I started playing around with it that it made sense.
It's a poll/survey application that you can use to build polls for your websites. However, it's what happens AFTER a visitor participates in the poll that can be so valuable.
With this app, you can:
- Redirect the poll taker to a different URL
- Get them to opt into your email list (you can integrate it with all the major email autoresponder services like Aweber, MailChimp, GetResponse, etc.)
- Request that the poll taker share the poll on social media sites (the buttons are all built in)
- Share information with the poll taker after they participated
- Gather statistics about the results
- Find out which products your customers like best
- Simply have fun
interacting with your target audience
- Inspire discussion
- Gain exposure on social media sites with simple, interesting questions that get people in your niche thinking and wanting to
respond
You can even walk people through a number of survey questions and gather multiple pieces of information. They have an example where this was used to walk someone through a bunch of travel and destination related questions so they could understand what kind of trips most interested
their visitors.
What great information for helping you understand what kind of content to add to your site!
This tool can work for ANY niche. People are using it to:
- Promote Kindle books
- Promote Amazon products
- Promote self-help niches
- Build traffic and sales for ecommerce stores
- Build email
lists
- Promote internet marketing related products
- Sign up new customers to service businesses
It is very slick! I haven't found myself having so much fun with a marketing option for my sites since I first joined Pinterest. It's that easy to use and that addictive. Just a few clicks and you can have a funnel set up to engage your site visitors.
See this poll example I created in just a few minutes:
(You'll see the affiliate marketing twist to this if you participate in the poll but also check out how the image responds and what the poll looks like. I'm fascinated just by the way the image moves
when I hover over the poll. Call me silly...)
It's even mobile responsive.
Okay - I
love it. But, you know me, I'm going to share some tips so you get the most out of it:
- If you buy, there are FIVE upsells - enough to drive you nuts. I skipped them all at first but then had to go back and get the 2nd upsell (the Secret Console Upgrade) because I really wanted the option to redirect poll takers to
a different URL and that is only available with that one upsell. The other upsells are for things like pre-done templates, done-for-you campaigns and reseller rights. I don't need those for my business so those are the ones I skipped.
- I had an issue saving anything beyond my first campaign in Firefox but I had no issues when I used
Google Chrome to create my campaigns.
- You can embed the polls 3 ways:
- With an iframe script
- With
javascript
- With a URL (if you wanted to share on social media sites, for example)
- I haven't figured out how to get the poll directly on Facebook (I think you're supposed to be able to do so) but I did figure out how to share them as posts on my Facebook pages
- I just had to add an image myself to the FB status update with a link to the post on my website
- There are several types of poll layouts. I chose the simple poll to start with but there's a "binary" poll where you can show two different images so you could get votes on t-shirt designs, or book covers, art work, craft projects,
etc. You can also use it to gather ratings. There's an example where someone asked if people like Los Angeles and they gathered data with a thumbs up or thumbs down sign. I haven't played enough with the different types yet but I can see the advantages of using each of them.
- When you first create a new project, it looks like you have to
click a second "create" button but just wait...the screen will move to the project details after a few seconds. I didn't realize that at first and kept creating duplicate projects by mistake. Which may have been why I had an issue in Firefox....
The basic version costs $67 and the offer closes sometime tomorrow. I then spent another $67 for the Secret Console because I think being able to redirect to another URL is worth the money but if you don't need that option, you can still use the poll, gather data, and get visitors to share it with just the basic version. Yes, I think that's a lot of money so think carefully. If you can see the opportunity with the tool, then it's worth it. If you're just
going to buy it and not use it - skip it.
Check it out - if you're looking for a way to use technology to interact more in today's very social, online environment I think you'll have a lot of fun with this one! (And having fun with this kind of work makes things much more exciting,
right?)
