5 Ways to Make Facebook Send You Traffic

Did You Give Up on Facebook?  DON'T!
I've been reviving my efforts on Facebook to drive more traffic and with great results despite the changes that Facebook has made in the kinds of content that shows up in the news feeds of your followers.

Below are five tips for getting more from Facebook PLUS notification about a software that is coming out tomorrow that will make things even easier.
#1 - Targeting Inspector v2.0 - Get in EARLY
If you've ever wanted to run - or want to improve the results of - Facebook ads for likes, traffic or to build an email list, a new software comes out tomorrow called Targeting Inspector v2.0.

I did not use the first version but joined the early notification list to buy this software tomorrow.  If you join the early notification list you'll get in at the lowest price.  (Makes sense to me to at least get on the list even if you're not yet interested just to reserve the option to get in low.)

I've also written a post on the challenges I've had with Facebook Ads and how I'll be testing this software tomorrow.

#2 - Funny & Inspirational Does it Every Time
I've been running some test regarding the kinds of content that do well on my own Facebook business page.

I can share articles meant to help make money, share articles that notify about Google changes, and link to Amazon Associates changes but what does best EVERY time?

Funny images and inspirational quotes done as images.  In my (albeit limited) testing, those get over twice the reach and nearly 3 times the likes and shares as other content.  Even though my page is ABOUT making money...interesting!

#3 - Facebook for List Building
I know you've heard a million times before that "the money is in the list" but you may be sitting there with no list, nothing to offer, and no idea how to get someone to join a list.

With Facebook, you could get started for next to nothing and then invest very small amounts of money at a time in Facebook ads to grow that list.

Let's assume you can make even a meager $0.50 per name per month from an email list.

I set up a Facebook ad campaign just a week ago as a test to grow a new email list.  It cost me $1.47 per name on the list but I've already made $45 from that list.  It won't take but a couple of months before that list has a positive ROI (if it doesn't turn a profit by the end of this month at this rate....)

You don't even have to have a Facebook business page in order to get started (although it will be cheaper if you do).  You can send folks to a good landing page on your own site with a sign up offer and start gathering names.

The hardest part is finding the right audience to target but this can be used for any niche (you've got to get creative but I know you've got it in you if you want to make it work!) and that research software mentioned above should make things easier.

#4 - Share Links from Authority Sites
We know that Facebook doesn't always make sure our followers see our content.  I think they give some amount of priority based on the domain to which you link in any content you share.

In some tests, linking to something like Reddit got more exposure than when I shared an article from my own site.

While the goal is to get traffic to my site - not Reddit - that exposure to the followers of your followers has value.  It can lead to more likes to your Facebook page itself which will eventually lead to more exposure to your other content.

#5 - Update Your Cover & Custom Tabs
Facebook keeps making changes to how custom tabs work and where they show up.  If you don't keep up with those, you'll find that your tabs leading to opt in pages or your review sites don't show as prominently as they did before.

If you haven't been to your own Facebook pages in awhile you might want to take a peek and see if you need to move things around or re-establish those custom tabs that make it easier for people who find your Facebook page to make their way to your site.  (Speaking from experience here as I had an opt in form on my page that went into hiding during one of the last updates.)

If you've given up on Facebook, don't.  I'm finding it's just as effective, if not more so, now.  Just takes a bit of adjusting to make it work for you.

Sincerely,

Erica Stone
