Blow Up the Roadblocks to Your Success

"Erica, I've been online for years trying to make this work...."

Have you sent me an email like that?  Thought about sending me an email like that?  You wouldn't be alone...it's something I see regularly.

And then, inevitably, in communicating with that person one-on-one I find that they possess some unique skills that are the perfect foundation for some online business but, instead, they're trying to follow a strategy so rigidly that it's no fun.  It's not natural, it doesn't inspire them.

I sometimes feel like I'm a personal stick of dynamite.  I blow up roadblocks that are standing in the way of talented people who just can't see through the overwhelming rush of information and products.

"But, Erica, you SEND us some of that information and lead us to some of those products!"  Yes, I do - but not to feed any shiny object syndrome!  I only want you to find the one thing that inspires you the most so I try to expose you to those things I think will get you there. I know that once you're doing that one thing you enjoy the most you'll have no problem ignoring those other things flying by you.

This roadblock scenario has come up a lot recently.  Here are a couple of examples:

One coaching student went all the way through my review site course and did an excellent job.  At the very end of the course she said "What I really want to do is THIS" (I won't reveal what THIS is...) and she showed me samples of her work. Have you ever see someone's talent shine through and you thought "OMG, if I had only a tiny bit of that particular talent...the things I could do!"  That's what I felt when I saw this woman's work and I thought to myself "Girl, why on earth are you worried about building an Amazon review site?!  Look what you can do!".  (I know this "girl" is reading this email - you know who you are!)  ;)

One woman had a domain for a niche and we were going to use it for a review site.  She was struggling to get motivated about the topic, though.  Then she sent me these amazing ideas that she'd been wanting to do for quite some time.  She'd just been sitting on them, letting them percolate and the more she tried to work on this review site, the more these other ideas kept popping into her head.  And her ideas were AMAZING!  We came up with a new plan for her and her site is going to be incredible.

It's obvious that a cookie-cutter kit or a "paint by numbers" strategy isn't the best solution for everyone.  So if you're facing a roadblock to your online success, let me be your stick of dynamite.  I've got several options and articles below to get you started!

New Kind of Coaching Program

No, this isn't about review sites or launching your own products - it's about building an online business around YOUR unique set of skills.

Maybe you've been sitting on a domain or an idea for a site that you've wanted to build for awhile now but you have no idea how to get it started, whether or not it could be monetized in any way, or even whether or not there's any interest in such a site.

You need a stick of dynamite.

Someone who can challenge your business plan, help you over the hurdles, and tell you step by step how to take your idea from a thought in your head to a live, working site on its way to success.

Maybe you read my The Monetized Life book and you know it's perfect for you but you still haven't been able to take action.  Something is standing in your way - time, too many ideas at once, not sure how to organize your thoughts - something.

This coaching program is for you.  I'm only taking on 15 students for an 8 week course and there's nothing cookie cutter about it.  The site you build will be based on your own unique skills and interests (okay, there are some exclusions - I can't help with anything illegal or X rated!).

This is for those of you who have a passion, a hobby, your own wares you make and sell, or a unique interest in a niche but you don't know how to break your way into it.

8 WEEK ONE-ON-ONE COURSE OUTLINE:
  1. Skill and Experience Overview - I need to get to know about YOU - what do you do, what do you know, what do you like about working online, what's your site/business idea (if you have one), what ideas can we come up with for you if you don't have one (I'm a great idea generator!)
  2. Establishing the Road Map - how do we take that set of skills or experience and turn them into an online site/business
  3. Planning the Site - organizing the layout, categories, and tools required for your site
  4. Building the Foundation - putting up your site with the best on-page SEO and organizational structure
  5. Content - planning and publishing your initial content
  6. Promotion - selecting and implementing the best promotional plans for your site
  7. Traffic - how and where to get traffic and how to leverage traffic reports
  8. Action Plan for Growth - the final step is to establish your road map for continuing the site once the coaching is over

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be able to write proper English.
  2. Must be able to get a domain name and hosting
  3. Must have some experience with WordPress
  4. Must be willing to commit an average of one hour a day

COST:

$597 for 8 weeks - I will invoice you through PayPal so that you may use the Bill Me Later option (if available to you) to spread the payments over 6 months.

START DATE:

The 8 week session will start on Wednesday, August 6th.

(If you've been interested in my review site coaching and was hoping I'd offer that again this year, I don't plan on it BUT contact me anyway and I may use one of the 15 spots for this program to work through the review site strategy instead.)

If you're interested, please send an email to me at erica@extremereviewer.com and include:

  • at least a paragraph about why you want to sign up

A Kindle Product You're Going to Love

OH, AM I EXCITED!!  The first of my Product Launch coaching students is ready to go live with his product THIS WEEK.  This is a person I've known for years.  (We started out on Squidoo together.)

While our paths went separate ways - I stuck with Amazon and he went into Kindle publishing - we've always stayed in contact and I've known all along that he's got a wealth of information in his head that needs to be shared.

He's worked out a very effective strategy for creating books for Kindle that are filled with UNIQUE content written by EXPERTS (he doesn't do any of the writing...!) in any niche.

His strategy allows him to publish quality books in any niche and churn them out as fast as he wants because he isn't writing them himself.  There's a very specific formula he uses and he put together the most feature packed book on the subject I could have imagined - templates, instructions, bonuses - he's going above and beyond and it's all easy to read and easy to follow.

I'll send an email when he goes live (Tuesday morning, I believe) so you can check it out for yourself but I know you're going to love what you see if you do anything with Kindle today or have wanted to get into Kindle publishing all along.

5 Reasons You're Not Seeing Results

Back to the whole "I've been at this for years" challenge - there are 5 big reasons you may not be seeing results.  There could be others but these are the biggies:

DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START

You read forums, you buy WSOs, you've download free guides and you're on everyone's mailing list.  Ideas are coming at you left and right and yet, it's just too much to navigate!  You have no idea where to start, don't really know if any of this works, or if you have what it takes to make it online.

Solution -  Slow down, clear the clutter, and pull out a clean piece of paper.  What is it YOU really want to do online?  Write reviews, become the king of a niche on Facebook, write and sell fiction, promote products as an affiliate, write about your life, offer a service to others, sell products on Amazon?

Next, look at your skills.  Can you write?  Do you like to write?  Can you design websites, plug-ins, write code, perform a service, create content around a specific niche?  Which of the ideas you came up with for things you WANT to do best matches what you CAN do?

Pick ONE idea.  Find the best articles, blogs, mentors, or guides around that strategy and start designing a plan for how you can launch your project.  Ignore everything else.

CONTENT

If you have a website and you need traffic to make money (as an affiliate or to sell your own products or build your own business clientele) you need content to bring in traffic.  Content can be videos, articles, posts on your site, posts on other sites.

But is your content good?  Is it GREAT?  Could you do better?  How do you know if it's good?

Solution - If the content you've put up isn't working for you get feedback.  Go to your family, your friends, someone you trust to give you an honest opinion and get them to critique your content.  Weigh the feedback carefully and make any revisions you agree to make based on that feedback.

SEO

As good as your writing might be, if you rely on Google for traffic you need to get to know how Google works.  Sure, their algorithm is an industry secret but it's not a complete unknown.  Don't write just for search engines (it looks funny) but you should be able to incorporate some techniques into your site organization, your use of titles, your use of keywords and phrases in a way that will help you in Google.

Solution - You've got to understand some basics so you can build good on-page SEO into your site.  Read Moz's latest Search Engine Ranking Factors:  http://moz.com/search-ranking-factors.  Find people who seem to be well regarded in the field of SEO and read their blogs or articles.

EFFORT

If you're spending more time reading online than you are creating then your effort is focused on the wrong thing.  Read to gain information you need and then take action.  What you do online is really "tangible" in a way.  Sure, you can't put your arms around it but you can see it, find it in search results, transfer it digitally.  If all you're doing is gathering information but there's no equal or higher proportion of energy spent on taking action with that information you can't succeed.

Solution - Write down your biggest challenge right now.  Research for an hour or two to find a solution.  When you've found the solution, stop researching.  Tell yourself you're done reading or researching until you've put in at least the same amount of time in taking real action on your business.

PROMOTION

I love the dream "build it and they will come" but it's just that - a dream.  Sometimes it works but you'll see results much more quickly if you actively promote your site and your business.

If a new pizza place were to open up in your neighborhood and did not put up a "Grand Opening" sign, hand out flyers, advertise in the paper or run a contest just how much business do you think they'd bring in?  Not much.

Solution - Have a promotional plan for your business.  Figure out where your target audience hangs out online and get yourself noticed whether that be forums, Facebook, Pinterest, online advertising, press releases or whatever works best for your market.

Those are the big issues.

What issue did I not list that you were surprised wasn't there?  TIME.  Time is NOT your issue.  You can do it slow or you can do it fast but you can still see success.  If you want it bad enough you'll make the time.

With that, it's back to work I go!  Hope everyone had a great weekend and let's kick off the week with a great Monday!

Sincerely,

Erica Stone
