Some Freebies and Final Review Site Coaching for 2014
I've got some information for you on "review" keywords that might be helpful, some free star images you can use in your posts and projects, and details on the final Extreme Review, one-on-one coaching session to be held in 2014.

If you're interested in the coaching program, scroll to the bottom of this email for details.

This is the last time this year I'll be offering one-on-one review site coaching!
Product Name Review Keyword Search Volume

You could be missing out on great products to review!

I don't often post in the main sections of the WarriorForum anymore (too busy!) but I came across a question about Amazon review sites that I felt compelled to answer and thought I'd share that discussion with you in case it helps better understand your own review sites and product review keyword potential.

The question was whether or not one should target a product name review keyword if the phrase doesn't get a lot of search volume.

For example, there's a headset on Amazon called the
LG Electronics Tone Ultra (HBS-800) Bluetooth Stereo Headset.

The best searched review phrase for that headset is "lg hbs 800 review" with 50 exact searches a month.  The phrase "lg hbs 800" gets 480 searches a month.

Shouldn't you go for the shorter, more higher searched phrase instead of the review phrase?

Not necessarily!  The competition for the shorter phrase may be higher than that of the "review" phrase meaning it could take longer to rank for that phrase.

AND that's not really how keywords work.

Yes, you can get traffic by using the word "review" or "reviews" in your target keyword even if that phrase does not get much traffic.

I'll give you an example. I have a review on one of my sites where the phrase "[product name] review" gets only 10 exact searches a month.

The page, however, gets the 5th most highest landing page hits of all the posts on the site with 590 visitors in the past 30 days to just that one post.

The post ranks #1 for the "review" phrase but also ranks on the first page for just the product name.

The reason the post gets more traffic than the keyword would imply is possible is because we don't really optimize content for just one keyword.

Unless you're writing very little content your review has the opportunity to rank for a variety of keywords - many of which won't include the word "review" or "reviews" at all even though that's the keyword you wrote about.

If I look at Google Webmaster Tools I can find 38 different keywords bringing traffic to that post on my site that each include a reference to the product name and only 4 of them include the word "review" or "reviews" although the phrase "product name review" was my original target keyword.

Other phrases bringing traffic include things like "product name", "product name price", "product name compare", "product name for sale", and longer variations of the product name.

While I didn't set out to rank for those phrases the post does anyway because those are important pieces of my content.

If you write a thorough review you can rank for lots of phrases INCLUDING just the product name and even if all those phrases only get a little bit of traffic each month it all adds up to a lot more traffic than you might expect.

Plus, if you optimize your page for "product name review" aren't you also optimizing for just the product name?  It's not like Google is going to go "Oh, this post ONLY wants to rank for 'product name review'" and ignores all your references to the product name itself.

By including the word "review" in critical on-page SEO elements of your post - like the post title - you're not hurting your chances for ranking for the product name keyword but if you don't include "review" you'd have a harder time ranking for the "review" keyword.  Make sense?

If you want to rank for both keywords then include the word "review" in your post title and content.

UNDERSTAND TOTAL POTENTIAL

One way to find out what kind of REAL traffic potential a product has is to go to the Google Keyword Planner and do a search for the product name Then put just the model number or name in the Include Terms filter. This will tell the Keyword Planner to only return results that closely match your keyword AND include your model number.  That will give you some idea of other phrases for which you might rank.

For the LG HBS 800 headset, I put "800" in the Include Terms filter and did a search for traffic volume for the phrase "LG Electronics Tone Ultra HBS-800 review".  There were 14 keywords with total exact search volume of 1630 a month.

Suddenly that little headset looks very, very interesting to us affiliate marketers!

Model names and numbers are tricky animals in the Keyword Planner so you can run that same exercise by using different parts of the product name and model information in the Include Terms filter and you'll probably find more results.

You can also go to Ubersuggest.org (which scrapes Google Suggest), enter the product name, get the resulting keyword list, take that list and run it through the Keyword Planner and then sort through the results to identify the buying phrases people might use to search for your review and then see the search volume associated with those phrases.

You may find you rank for the lesser searched and less competitive "review/reviews" keyword early but over time you can rank for more and more phrases including the higher searched "[product name]" keyword. Having quality content helps so you might not see this happen if you have a short review that doesn't contain anything unique for the end consumer.

Free Star Images for Review Posts
Peter, a member of my list, created his own star image pack for use in his review posts and has allowed me to share them.

There are a total of 13 images ranging in increments from 2 stars to 5 full stars.

You can upload all the images to your review site and insert them into your posts as needed to show the rating of a product.

They're a crisp yellow star as some of you may be able to see in this email and they're FREE!

To download the pack of star images you can get the zip folder here:  http://www.extremereviewer.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/stars.zip

(By the way, if you use AdCrafter and are into customizing the templates for your product displays you could also add those images to your templates as long as you have the location of the image properly identified in the template.)

Thank you, Peter!

WHY THIS COURSE?

So many people try to build review sites but fail and, in my opinion, the biggest reason is CONTENT.

Poor quality content, lack of content, and the wrong kind of content can destroy your efforts no matter how hard you're working.  It's one of my strong suits and the reason why I'm limiting this opportunity to only 15 students.

With this coaching program I will be reviewing your content in detail to make sure you are learning how to really distinguish yourself and your site from the others in your niche.

The most eye-opening part of the journey for the last round of coaching students was the review writing phase.  I received comments like the following:

  • I've never written reviews this detailed before
  • I was obviously doing it all wrong
  • I can see the benefits of your method
  • I'll never write a review the same way again

During the review writing phase I research every one of your first few products as if I was writing the review myself.  I then compare my notes to your written review and add suggestions, make revisions, and provide feedback on how to write a very thorough, detailed, traffic-getting review that's going to last.

Having a coach will keep you on track and make you more productive. I'm a manager by trade and have 3 kids - I know how to clear a path and get things done.

You'll benefit from all the shortcuts (safe, process-driven shortcuts) I've developed in building my own sites and drawing traffic.  If you've known that the review site method is ideally suited to your work style but have done more reading than doing, it's time to dig in and get it done!

All coaching will be done by email.  Why?  Because written instructions can be saved and referred to as you need them.  You'll get the benefit of those instructions for years to come.

COACHING INCLUDES:

  • 8 weeks of email coaching starting May 5, 2014, and running through June 29, 2014.  (I can delay the start date by up to two weeks for those who need it but you must lock in your spot now.)
  • Support in choosing the niche with the best potential for your success
  • Advice on domain selection and branding
  • Step by step instructions for WordPress site set up, plug-ins, and visitor-friendly navigation
  • Instructions for selecting your site Categories and Pages and how to structure your site for maximum conversions
  • How to fully research your niche and write intelligently about it even if you have no prior knowledge
  • Review writing instructions that will set your site a step above even the toughest competition
  • Detailed review of your content with corrective action plans if content is missing or lacking critical information
  • How to identify and write the informational posts necessary to draw in additional buying traffic and establish your site as an authority in the niche with your visitors and with Google
  • Google-safe backlink and traffic strategies
  • Custom plan for growing your site beyond the coaching period
  • Copies of the following products (if you don't already have them):  Extreme Review, Amazon Niche Master, Ninja Reviews, and Use Your Words

I go above and beyond when it comes to coaching which is why making sure I have the time available to give my all is so important to me.  If you get stuck on something in WordPress, I can log in and fix it.  If you don't know where to find the information you need for a review I'll help you find it.  You won't be alone for any step of this process.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be have or be able to get site hosting
  • Be able to register a domain name
  • Have some WordPress experience
  • Have some basic HTML experience
  • Have or be able to get an Amazon Associates account in your state
  • Be willing to commit some time to this project each day
  • Realize that they're going to spend time doing product research and writing detailed reviews - if you don't like to write then this is not for you!

The work is laid out to accommodate a part time schedule so if you have a day job you can still complete this program in the 8 week time frame.

TESTIMONIALS:

I've received multiple testimonials to share.  This is one from my earliest coaching session in 2012:

"I've known of Erica Stone (via my husband) for a year on Warrior Forum. We've bought most of her ebooks and IM guides. When Erica offered her personal coaching program in early May 2012, I jumped on it without any hesitation.

Among the few personal coaching programs I've participated in the past three years, Erica Stone offers the best quality and the most value. Here is why:

  1. Erica has her student's best interest at heart. She is not here to make a quick buck. She is here to provide strategies and guidance to ensure our maximum success.
  2. Erica has developed a very comprehensive and methodical approach to the Internet Marketing business as she had done in the Corporate world. The best part is that she is able to document, articulate and share her strategies and tactics in a concise manner with real life examples to boot.
  3. Erica works around the o'clock (it seems to me) to provide help or feedback when I need it.
  4. Erica has a vivacious personality that makes her coaching program so much fun. Even though I haven't spoken to Erica, I've had a great deal of interactions through frequent email exchanges.
  5. Erica provides the most meaningful and encouraging feedback to my project. She is insanely patient with my questions. She makes me feel that I am her only student and the number one priority.

I can go on and on with my praises all day long. You get my point, right?

In short, if you want to succeed in the IM business, Erica's coaching program would be one of the best investments. Not only will you learn about the nuts and bolts about IM, but also improve on your critical thinking, discipline and tenacity from working with Erica. I've benefited so much more than what I paid for. I owe her so much gratitude." - Lei Chidester

And from this year:

It's the best thing I've ever done! I signed up for other coaching courses (though not on a personal level like yours) that were about $200 even though I was on a tight budget (as in no money!). Most of them I panicked and felt sick after and 2 of them I asked for a refund which I really hate doing. But when I signed up for your course which was 3 times the cost, I felt ecstatic and thrilled and at peace. I knew I had done the right thing. I just want to thank you and let you know how great I think your coaching is. - Antoinette

I can't tell you how grateful I am for the detailed facebook instructions. I was really dreading this! Not being much of a facebook user and always being stumped for anything to say there, I couldn't imagine what I would post, what I would write. I had no idea how to set up a page properly and use it effectively.

You have shown me how easy it is to find suitable content, Not necessarily quickly yet, but I can see how it would become faster with practice. Thank you so much for this, and for all the other stuff I now know because of your teaching. - Christina

I was lucky enough to have Erica accept me into her course even though I had virtually no experience in creating a website and knew next to nothing about WordPress. Despite that, my website is now up and running and I have to say -- I'm proud of what we've accomplished.

I'd kicked around without too much direction for about a year and then I met Erica through the Warrior Forum. Even before I signed up for her course, she didn't hesitate to PM back and forth with me, helping me with anything and everything she could. So it was a no-brainer when her email announcing her Review Site Coaching Program arrived in my inbox!

Because I came into the course knowing so little about everything, you can imagine how many questions I had! You've heard the expression "A picture's worth a thousand words"? Well in my case, seeing an email from me in Erica's inbox was worth a thousand words! But no matter what I asked, how much I asked or how often she needed to repeat things, she simply never gave up and went completely above and beyond to ensure my success.

Erica has a way of explaining things that turns even the most complicated stuff (in my case HTML!) into simple, easy to understand information that's totally transferable to a work-in-progress site. Not only is her knowledge of how to create a successful Amazon review site extensive (to say the least), it's matched in full by her desire to help people!

All you need is a willingness to learn and the desire to create an Amazon review site. If you have that, Erica's the one to take you across the finish line!

Coach, mentor, cheerleader, tough-love teacher...Erica is a very large part of the reason that I'm well on my way to building a successful portfolio of Amazon review sites. In case I haven't made myself clear...SHE ROCKS!

So don't miss out on the opportunity to have her rock your website world like she rocked mine.  - Debbie
