Sometime the end of December a member of my list contacted me to ask if I'd considered doing a sale on any of my products. I said I'd take a look at doing so and then got buried in my coaching sessions (sorry!). Finally, as I'm getting more time to peak my
head above water, I put one together. Interestingly, when I referred to the page I created last time I ran a sale I noticed it was almost exactly one year ago to the day that the last one ran! So, there must be something about Spring showing up (at least in my neck of the woods) that somehow ties in with saving some money and lowering prices. Or maybe it's the fact that gas prices are going up (by the
hour, I swear!) that makes me look for ways to save you guys a little money. If there's a product of mine that you've been dying to get your hands on without paying full price now's your chance. Until midnight my time on April 22nd you can get a selection of my ebooks for either $5 or $7 each.
SALE ENDS MIDNIGHT PST APRIL, 22, 2014

Random Tips & Suggestions
|
Continuing with my Spring activities I've been storing some random set of tips and suggestions for you guys that may be of use to you in your own affiliate efforts. Consider this the Spring cleaning of my mind:- If you use your hosting account's email feature to create your email addresses
get familiar with any spam filtering tools your hosting service may offer. It's amazing how much junk you can stop from ever making it to your inbox with a few filters.
- If you're using a Pinterest business account to promote one of your sites make sure to check out the analytics they provide.
- While logged
into Pinterest click on your profile name next to the + sign in the navigation bar and then click on Analytics. You'll find reports showing how many pages of your site have been pinned, the number of people who see your pins each day, the number of visitors to your site and other information that can help you improve your results. If you see that one pin is getting shared more than another try to figure out why so you can replicate the success with future
pins.
- My PinFabulous text images with a red background get repinned more than those with other color backgrounds. I don't know why but it's interesting that the Pinterest logo is also red.
- Do you spend enough time thinking about the future of your sites? I build review sites using methods I've used for
several years now but will technology change how consumers research products in the future? Ever think about what changes you might make now to deal with those changes? I do - no answers just yet but it's often on my mind these days.
- I wrote to you about site speed recently and if you've done any reading on the subject you may have come across a recommendation to use CSS sprites. A sprite is an image that combines other images of your site that are loaded on multiple pages (like the little calendar icon that might show up next to the date that your post was published or the image that makes the
background of your navigation menu tabs. Combining those images into one can reduce the load time of your site. I found this tool to help me create the sprite images for one of my sites: http://spriteme.org/. They have a good demo that explains the process. When you get to the step about changing your theme's CSS file you have to literally search your theme's CSS file to find the line referenced in the suggestions from Sprite Me and add the background position code to the end of the CSS for each item. There were some items I couldn't change because Sprite Me gave multiple background positions for the same item and I didn't want to spend time
learning how to modify the code for a complex set of positions but I was able to get several images replaced with the sprite image and it did reduce the size of my site's home page and the load time. This is not for the timid as you can really mess up the look of your site if you make a mistake so back up everything before you give it a go.
See...I warned you....very random set of stuff.
