Have you ever struggled to come up with great content for your affiliate marketing posts?
It seemed the hardest thing to learn when I first started online.
I want to show you how even the littlest things in our lives can lead to us becoming better affiliate marketers.
It starts with the really pretty, ceramic travel mug my mother-in-law gave me last Christmas.
It was perfect - white and gold, fit in my car's cup holder, and held just the right amount of coffee.
A couple of weeks ago I was moving too fast, knocked it off the counter, and it shattered on the floor.
I was so mad at myself and, of course, my first thought was "This is why you can't have nice things...you're a klutz!"
I pulled out my less pretty, plastic, two-walled travel mug and within a week I'd knocked it over, too, cracking the exterior just enough that coffee has found its way in between the two walls and discolored the decorative paper in between.
(Seriously, I'm a train-wreck!)
That's when it hit me that this is probably one of the main reasons they also make these kinds of mugs in stainless steel - for people just like me.
Someone who doesn't do affiliate marketing for a living would leave it at that...but that's not me. The experience of going through these two mugs gives me valuable information.
It gives me something to write about in a website post I might publish that promotes these kinds of mugs.
I could take pictures of the shattered ceramic mug, the cracked plastic mug, write about how I destroyed them, write about why I decided to buy a stainless steel one, write about the stainless steel options I considered, write about how I chose the final one to buy, and then show pictures of the new stainless steel mug (it's supposed to arrive today - I'm so excited!).
I could write about how I think my smaller hands and tendency to move too fast led to choosing a taller, thinner stainless steel option that had a grip surface around the middle.
All of that would be unique content from my own perspective that was highly relevant to the topic - stuff Google loves!
The exact kinds of things to write about in an affiliate marketing post...
These kinds of experiences have happened to all of us and as an affiliate marketer you learn to grab onto these things and make use of them to help you online.
Even if I was never going to write a post about travel mugs I've learned a new point I could talk about in other kinds of posts - how some products are a better fit for some people because of the size of their hands or their klutziness or because of the way they intend to use that product.

For the next six months everyone in the group is focused on building their own website to grow their affiliate commissions by December.
...at what I think is an incredibly low price.
And the participation in the private Facebook group has been absolutely on fire.
The group has brought me to tears at times and had me bursting with laughter at others - people sharing their stories, encouraging each other, making each other laugh, answering questions, motivating each other to success - it's amazing!
So many members are sharing the reasons they've been stalled or distracted for so long and feeling a huge relief in learning that they are not alone and that there are ways to overcome any challenge.
The level of newfound excitement and focus is shining through the comments in the group.
It's not too late to join if you haven't done so already.
