Seeing All Kinds of New Opportunities

I don't know what May is like in other countries but here in Arizona it's a beautiful month - not too cold and not too hot.

Bushes are loaded with purple flowers. Yellow Lantana is glowing in the sun. Hummingbirds zip in near my patio to say hello.

All of it fills me with hope and happiness - and hasn't that been in short supply the past 15 months!

If you need a little hope I willingly, virtually, give you all the brightness I see ahead and a big hug of encouragement.

I've been busily working through building sites for clients for the past couple of months and doing so always gives me a chance to discover new opportunities.

It's also put me behind on my email but I'm almost back to normal. If you've written to me and I haven't responded hang in there - I'm not ignoring you and WILL reply shortly.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a few new things I've come across recently so you don't miss out.

We talk a lot about the importance of site speed on the front end of our sites but not about the speed of the back end.

Have you ever noticed just how slow WordPress is when you're in your dashboard?

I've long been aware of this on my own sites and thought it was just me but while building sites for customers and working on different servers I now know for sure the issue is across the board.

When you add up all that waiting time over months and years it's a big drain on your productivity.

Leveraging all the working time you have available to you is important. Every minute of additional productivity has value.

When I saw someone created a WP plugin that speeds up the WP dashboard by 10 TIMES it was a no-brainer.

You'd have to live under a rock not to have heard of crypto - even if you don't understand it.

But did you know that you can make affiliate commissions in the crypto niche?

Neither did I until I saw CryptoCommissions.

I did not buy it as I've got my hands full with other niches but I know there are people on my list who are interested in what this hot market has to offer.

This might be a way to combine your affiliate marketing skills with a new opportunity.

In that same arena, there's a newish crypto currency that JUST started trading this week and is supposed to be much easier to "farm".

It's called Chia.

It was created by the man who started BitTorrent and it's supposed to require less energy to find.

If you wish you'd gotten into Bitcoin farming way back when maybe this is a second chance.

I don't know much more than I've outlined above - just passing along what I've read.

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are another strange world but let me tell you a story - one you might have heard already but I'm going to share it in case you haven't.

There's a man who has spent years working to improve his art skills.

He blogs about his work and shares his digital art online.

He's never sold a piece of art for more than $100.

In March of this year he sold a DIGITAL version of a collage of some of his art for $69 MILLION.

Seriously - that's just jaw-dropping.

This wasn't a physical piece of art.

It was only digital and sold as a non-fungible token.

NFTs are a digital certificate of ownership - usually of something that is also digital.

New websites that allow artists to sell NFTs of their digital work are opening up.

Think of it as eBay or Etsy but for digital products.

I don't totally understand it all but if I were a digital artist I'd want to know this and would start scoping out some of those websites.

Did you see that Google announced a change to their ranking algorithm regarding review sites?

They're going to give stronger weight to review sites that do more than rehash product information.

This is a plus for two reasons.

First, it validates that Google is comfortable with review sites and ranking them in their index. Yay!

Second, their article gives very specific information on how to build the kind of review site they want to see.

My review site strategy still works (although I need to update the screens and directions).

If you have a review site please read the material in the link above and see if you need to do any updating to get your site in line with the outlined expectations.

Now, step back from all the crazy in the world around you, think a happy thought, and refocus.

This year IS going to be better than the last one.
