I don't know what came over me a couple of days ago but I had this demanding need to document some of the things I've learned during the 10 years I've been doing affiliate marketing.
Some of the thoughts that came out are tips for success, some are ideas for growing your site, and some are just meant to be motivation to keep going.
At the very least, you'll probably find something in the post that will make you say "So I'm not the only one who feels that way!"
You can read what fell out of my head here:
While I was in working on that post I couldn't resist doing a bit of a much-needed overhaul on my site in general.
That's sort of how I tackle a fair number of tasks....I might head into my office to dust and suddenly I'm rearranging files, moving things around, looking up new light fixtures online, and wondering how long it would take me to rip up the carpet and replace it with tile.
I'm your typical dog-distracted-by-a-squirrel at times so if you think you're the only one who has trouble managing themselves you are REALLY not alone.
This website overhaul was further challenged because I messed up and didn't realize it until I was all done.
It all started a few weeks ago when I went to the eye doctor thinking I needed a new eyeglass prescription.
No matter what the optometrist tried, though, he could not find a prescription that would get my left eye to 20/20.
He blinded me with a laser light for quite some time while mumbling to himself and then he sat back in his chair and explained that I have a wrinkle in my left retina. (Yup, I never heard of that before, either!)
So I have an odd little vision challenge at the moment.
Until I can get into the specialist (later this month) the doctor had to give me an extra-strong prescription for contacts to help balance out my vision which is great for distance but makes everything right in front of me look a little blurry - even the food on my plate.
When working on the computer I have to wear strong reading glasses in addition to the contacts to magnify the screen.
Which should have explained why, when I looked at my own website today, the font seemed so very, very large.
But, instead, I spent hours tweaking all the font settings (titles, sidebar, comments, content) to make them smaller and, when I was done, I logged out of my site, took a break, removed my contacts and put my regular multifocal glasses on (which only provide decent vision for my right eye - I know, it's confusing even to me).
When I got back to my computer I brought the site up again and my font was now super tiny!
Duh...I forgot that the reading glasses were making everything appear larger than it really was. Stupid eyeballs. ; )
I think I have it all back in order but I'm not sure I trust my eyes 100% at the moment.
If you visit the site (the link above) and you think the font size is way out of whack please feel free to let me know. I'd appreciate it!
And with that I'm wishing you all good eye health and a great weekend!
Thanks!
Sincerely,
Erica Stone
