After receiving several questions about a keyword software that was recently released I finally broke down and bought it. There were two reasons in particular that I did so (plus the low price made it irresistible...).
It's called HQSuggest and what intrigued me the most was the fact that it could scrape Google Suggest by placing words IN FRONT of your niche keyword instead of just adding words to the tail end like you get with the free Ubersuggest.org site. (If you've been on my list awhile you know I love Ubersuggest).
It also has a question keyword tab so you can do searches just for question keywords. I've struggled finding a tool I think does a good job with those in the past.
Now, why are question keywords important? Two reasons.
First, in my review site strategies I suggest you do some forum research on your niche to find out what kinds of questions shoppers ask about the products you're writing about. That gives you the material you need for new content. This tool will help you do that research.
Second, voice search is becoming more and more prevalent. I can do voice search with my mobile phone and it's a good three years old. My teenage boys (who must, of course, have THE most up to date, latest, greatest cell phones possible...) can do even more with voice on their phones.
I've noticed that when I search by voice I use regular phrasing instead of the short, non-English Google searches I'm used to typing. Making sure you're targeting question keywords in your content - even for Amazon sites! - will help your site be voice-search ready and can earn you more traffic.
When I did a question search using HQSuggest for one of my sites, I got over 2000 results. Some of the phrases didn't make sense but I simply ran the results through the Google Keyword Planner and eliminated any that had 0 search volume. There were hundreds of questions I haven't addressed in my content.
I've played around with the tool for several days now and found several other features to be more useful than I originally considered:
-
Pulls information from NINE sources: Amazon, Answer, Ask, Bing, Ebay, Google, Wiki, Yahoo, YouTube
- Outputs the data right into a text file so you can copy the keywords into other tools (like the Google Keyword Planner)
- Let's you run 3 different kinds of searches - keyword, questions, and A-Z suggest searches
It's very easy to operate. However, it does not give you search volume - only the keywords. You'll have to run those keywords through the Google Keyword Planner to get volumes so you can prioritize the keywords with the most traffic potential.
The biggest benefit the creator points out is that this tool is meant to help you deal with Google Hummingbird - Google's new ranking algorithm. The new algorithm is intended to better understand all the words in a search phrase rather than just some of the words - again, as a way of providing better responses for voice search.
The seller does have an upsell option which I think is reasonably priced and useful (and there's only the 1 upsell - a short video that tells you what's included and then you're on to your purchase). The upsell version has an expanded license for 3 computers, lets you add your own questions to the tool, and does double letter alphabet searches for words that go before and after your target keyword.
Unfortunately, it's not compatible with Macs, sorry...
For those of you who were asking, I did find this to be a great tool, one I'll use regularly and the price was pretty amazing so a really low risk purchase. You can see a demo of the tool here: HQSUGGEST

Blogspot Template for Christmas Cash Out
|
Some of you who are following my Christmas Cash Out strategy have asked how I put those five products in a row like I did on the Top 5 post. I used SquidCrafter which I believe many of you have already.
SquidCrafter was the desktop application that would grab your affiliate links for Amazon products, the image, the product title, and format it into HTML you could paste into anything that accepts HTML. While originally designed for use with Squidoo it works with Blogspot, WordPress, and a number of other web 2.0 sites so I'm still using it today. (In fact, the owner is rebranding it soon to get rid of the implication that this can only be used with Squidoo). I simply modified a template in SquidCrafter to work with Blogspot and used that to create the HTML for my five products. You can download the template here:
Blogspot 5 Product Template for SquidCrafterClick on the blue link called 000-My-Small-Vertical-Blogger. Unzip the file and drag it to the Templates folder inside your SquidCrafter application. The next time you launch SquidCrafter that template will be available for you to populate with your own selection of five products.

Flip Your World Facebook Tip
|
One way to drive more clicks to Amazon from your Facebook Page is to pin a post to the top of the page in which you shared an affiliate link to Amazon. Any new visitors to your page will see that post even if you put it up weeks ago.
To pin a post to the top of your Page, find the post and click on the little down arrow that shows up when you hover over the top right of the post box. A drop down box will reveal some options for editing that post. The top option is Pin to Top. Click on that and the post will show at the top of your site for all new visitors to see.
When I haven't had time to put new affiliate links on a page I've periodically turned that feature on for a post just so I have something showing up towards the top with my affiliate link on it.

Facebook Ads and Doing a Good Deed
|
Familiar with Facebook Ads and want to do a good deed? You can run a Facebook Ad Like campaign for any Page on Facebook even if you aren't an admin for the Page. Your ad options are limited but you can still do so.
More likes means more exposure for future announcements. My father is a director for a charitable organization that means a great deal to him and since I was experimenting more with ads lately I ran an ad to get them more likes by targeting people in their area who have interests related to their topic. Since you can run campaigns for as little as a few bucks (I think you can even do $1 a day for some campaigns...) it's a small thing that will add up over time.
Not exactly internet marketing related, I know, but just something I thought I'd pass along for those who volunteer their time or money to certain causes and charities. Sometimes our knowledge comes in handy in other areas! ;)
